It is also called "the Gibralter of the Pacific" and is probably the most famous peak. It was first sighted in 1542 by Juan Cabrillo. At one time it was surrounded by water. Quarrying was responsible for its shape, and rock from it supplied the breakwater for Morro Bay. It is now protected home for the endangered Peregrine Falcon.

California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, also known as Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is a public university located in San Luis Obispo, California. Camp San Luis Obispo is the original home of the California Army National Guard. It served as an Infantry Division Camp and Cantonment Area for the United States Army during World War II. The California Army National Guard maintains the California Military Academy at Camp San Luis Obispo for the use and training of members of California and other western state National Guard units, as well as for the use of the California State Military Reserve.
The Madonna Inn is a motel in San Luis Obispo, California. Opened for business in 1958, it quickly became a landmark on the Central Coast of California. The Inn was created by Alex Madonna, a successful construction magnate and entrepreneur, and his wife Phyllis. The well-known motor inn, which includes a restaurant and bakery, is prominently located on the west side of US Route 101 and situated on the lower eastern portion of Cerro San Luis Obispo. The property is adorned with a pseudo-Swiss-Alps exterior and lavish common rooms accented by pink roses, Western murals, and hammered copper. Each of the 110 guest rooms and suites is uniquely designed and themed, though some tourists stop just to peek at the famous rock waterfall urinal located in the men's restroom, a feature designed by Hollywood set designer Harvey Allen Warren.
The San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden is located near the Pacific Ocean on the Central Coast of California. When the master plan is complete, our 150 acre garden will be the only garden of its kind in the United States exclusively devoted to the ecosystems and plants of the five mediterranean climate regions of the world. Other components of the plan include 50 miles of paved trails; restaurants and cafés featuring mediterranean climate cuisine; a 3,000-seat amphitheater; demonstration, meditation, and event gardens; an explosion of art; sustainable buildings for education and research; and creative modes of transportation to provide easy access to the inspiring views throughout the Garden’s 500-foot elevation change.
The Performing Arts Center, San Luis Obispo is a state-of-the-art performance facility located on the beautiful Central Coast of California at the campus of California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly). Open since September of 1996, the Performing Arts Center incorporates two main venues: the Christopher Cohan Center, including the majestic 1,289-seat Sidney Harman Hall, the 180-seat classroom Philips Hall, and the multi-purpose Pavilion that holds various capacities up to 400 people; and the 498-seat Alex & Faye Spanos Theatre.

Dairy Creek Golf Course is the newest of the three courses operated by San Luis Obispo County Parks. This "links-like" course is located on El Chorro Regional Park land just east of Highway 1 between San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay, it boasts some incredible elevation changes, forced carries over water and rocky arroyos. The bentgrass greens will put the steadiest stroke to the test. Add tricky sea breezes whipping around nearby Hollister Peak and suddenly you've got a 6,548-yard course to be reckoned with.

Located in the foothills of Atascadero 15 minutes north of San Luis Obispo and 10 minutes south of Paso Robles - Chalk Mountain Golf Course is part of the County's Heilmann Regional Park complex. Ideally situated among lush ancient oak groves overlooking the southern Salinas Valley, it's one of the oldest courses in the area. A meandering creek, rolling hills, and undulating greens add to the charm and character of this challenging golf course.
Located just south of the City of San Luis Obispo, the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport serves areas as far north as Southern Monterey County and as far south as Northern Santa Barbara County. The San Luis Obispo Amtrak Station is an Amtrak rail station in the city of San Luis Obispo, California. It is the northern terminus of Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner from San Luis Obispo to San Diego and it also serves the Coast Starlight from Seattle, Washington to Los Angeles, California. Four Pacific Surfliner trains and two Coast Starlight trains (one in each direction) serve the station daily. The station is fully staffed with ticketing and checked baggage services.
